MUTS 2007
(Minervals Under The Stars)

Once again, Onnophris will be hosting MUTS the weekend of June 30-July 1, 2007. Cost for Initiates is $15.00.

Water, lemonade and tea will be available, but please bring food for the remainder of your stay.  Several small camp stoves and a charcoal grill will be available.

The road leading up to the camping area is badly rutted, so no vehicles will be allowed to drive up to the site.  We will be loading everyone's gear into a 4-wheel drive truck to get it up the hill.  Please plan accordingly.  The site has camp toilets, and a non-potable water tank for hand/dish washing, but no showers.

Those with a sense of adventure may try to come directly to the site on Saturday afternoon.  Contact us for a map and directions.  If you would prefer, meet us in the parking lot of the Picnic Basket, 550 S Washington St, Bloomfield, IN 47424 (click for map) at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  One of us will be there to escort the group from the Picnic Basket to the initiation site.  Look for the car with the brightly colored lamen in the window.  If you arrive after 4 p.m. you'll have to find your own way to the site, so don't be late!

What to Bring:

Clothing for a variety of weather conditions.
If you don't like the weather in Indiana, just wait a few minutes, and it will change. Since it is the middle of summer, be prepared for high humidity, brutal sun, and insects.  Wear sturdy shoes.

Special food, beverages, and water.
If you would like to bring special dishes or beverages for yourself, or to share, you are welcome.  During the initiation, vegetarian options will be available, but if you have special dietary needs, please contact us prior to the event.

Camping gear.
Tent, sleeping bag, light source, rain gear, lawn chair (optional).  A limited number of tents and sleeping bags are available for loan.  Contact our initiation coordinator to reserve equipment.

Cooking utensils.
Cookstove (optional), charcoal & lighter (optional), spoons, knives, etc. Tongs and spatulas for the grills will be provided.

Ritual wear.
Initiates should contact our initiation coordinator for details.  Candidates should be in street clothes.

Drums/instruments.
After the initiation, there will be lots of time for celebration around the bonfire.  Drums and other rhythm instruments are welcome.  Humidity-sensitive instruments are not a good idea, but they can be stored in the emergency vehicle if you want to bring them.

Toiletries.
Aside from the usual, be sure to bring bug spray and sunscreen (several people could share).

Don't Bring:

Firearms, fireworks, pets, radios (walkmans are OK), illegal drugs, or Elvis memorabilia.
